How Are Ceramic Grey Bathroom Tiles Made

Ceramic tiles have long been around and have decorated numerous buildings and houses worldwide. While the theory has not changed, the production line of ceramic tiles has significantly evolved with the fast-advancing technology

The production of grey bathroom tiles has become among the most famous types of tiles households use. The popular ceramic grey bathroom tiles consist of natural products, sand, and clays. Once they are molded in shapes, they are fired into a kiln.

Here are the processes of how ceramic bathroom tiles are made:

  1. Collection of raw materials

The manufacturer gathers and collects raw materials for ceramic tiles. The commonly used materials include talc, white clay, feldspar, sand, kaolinitic and illiticcaly, calcite, and dolomite. All these materials will be quarried and refined. The manufacturer will store the materials separately in the processing and manufacturing plant.

  1. Mixture and formation

All the raw materials will be mixed in particular proportions according to weight. The manufacturer can achieve a specific mixture by adjusting the speed of every conveyor prior to gathering all materials together by the master conveyor for the succeeding process. The conveyor will then dump the mixture into a storage container tank. The stored materials will be mixed with ceramic pellets and water forming a slurry.

  1. Glazing

Screening and glazing serve an artistic and practical purpose. This will make the tile attain aesthetic beauty, durability and water repellence. Screening and glazing also provide hygienic properties.

  1. Firing

When the glaze is applied already, the tile is fired using a kiln. The kiln has excellent temperature uniformity, heat efficiency, and cleanliness. The process of kilning will solidify the glaze and takes away residual moisture. This finalizes the manufacturing process of ceramic tiles.

  1. Quality check

The finished material will go through a quality check to ensure its quality standards are achieved. Here, they check imperfections through human and mechanical methods. The ceramic tiles are then put in boxes and the manufacturer labels the boxes with the shade, quality and caliber specifications.

With the constant advances in technology, the manufacturing of tiles will be more consistent and aesthetic appeal will be improved.
