The Akaryn Hotel Group, responsible for the first 5 star hotel in Sukhumvit without single-use plastic, will be expanding its reach into the international market for the first time, with its newest subsidiary; akyra, small luxury boutique resort property brand.
The Thai home-grown luxury boutique resort brand’s latest development is part of its plan to triple the number of its properties under the akyra brand from the current number, up to 12, from 4, by the time 2022 rolls in.
There are already several agreements for the new akyra properties, with different levels of readiness and completions, with the guaranteed properties located in the Malaysian Highlands, Hoi An in Vietnam, as well as Bangkok’s Rattanakosin Island, with potential projects being studied in markets like Bali, Ho Chi Minh and Phnom Penh, as the brand looks to expand its reach across the Southeast Asia region.
The Group’s Founder and Managing Director, AnchalikaKijkanakorn, said that the new hotel in Hoi An will be the first international akyra property. Construction is currently underway, and is expected to be completed within the next two years.
She says that the group would not own these new akyra properties, but that they’ll be operating them in their chosen foreign destinations.
Currently, the Akaryn Hotel Groups is in charge for the operation of four akyra hotels and resorts, all located within the Kingdom:
- akyra Manor Chiang Mai;
- akyra Beach Club Phuket;
- akyraThonglor Bangkok, and;
- akyra TAS Sukhumvit Bangkok, a new 5 star hotel in Sukhumvit and heir latest addition to the roster.
Akyra TAS Sukhumvit Bangkok had its soft launch earlier in May of 2018, and is the first hotel in the Asia region without any sort of plastic in its rooms or its eateries.
Anchalika added that the new akyra properties would be adhering to the brand’s core philosophies and guiding principles, which include community interaction, environmental awareness and sustainability.
As part of their efforts to adhere to sustainability, the whole Akaryn Hotel Group, including the Aleenta luxury resort brand, has pledged to eliminate all single-use plastic in their properties, with both the akyra TAS Sukhumvit Bangkok and the akyra Manor Chiang Mai already having gone single-use plastic free.
